Welcome to the Home page for the Province of Golden Rivers! The Province encompasses a large portion of the Sacramento, CA area and has been a thriving group in the Kingdom of the West since the beginnings of the S.C.A.!

There are a lot of things going on in our Province! We have weekly fighter practice/ gather in Howe Park (2201 Howe Ave. The corner of Howe and Cottage), on Wednesdays starting around 6:30 and going until late. At these gatherings, you can watch our fighters practice and learn more about the art, see dancers having fun and perhaps join in, get information from our chatelaine (our “welcome wagon”), socialize with folks and get to know them, and much more. Our monthly Province business meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of each month in the same park, weather permitting. There is also a monthly Equestrian practice details can be found under classes.

In this site, you’ll find information on local events, as well as events throughout the Kingdom of the West . You can find out who the local officers are and what their jobs are. You can find links to help you get started on garb, finding a name/device, cooking a period dish, and more. Keep posted for updates!

Good Gentles of the West Kingdom! Come and join the Populace of Golden Rivers for a day of Rapier Fighting, Fun, and a chance to LEARN something new! Afterwards, join us in a Pot-Luck BBQ Feast! It is a day NOT to be missed!

Relax with the Gallery as we watch the West kingdom Rapier Fighters display their prowess upon the field! Revel in the fact that you will witness feats of fighting skill at lightning quick speed! (Not mention that some of the outfits are really cool.)

And should you be able to divert your attention from the fighting, you will be able to partake in numerous A & S Classes that include (but are not limited to):

· "Beginning Marshalling": Join Duibheasa as she teaches you the basics of making sure everyone stays safe on and around the List Field, while wielding that "bumble-bee stick". Also, the basics of Armor Inspection will be covered. It is MORE than simply asking; "My Lord, are you wearing...?"

· "Heralding is Sexy": What is THAT, you say? Heralding? Sexy? It certainly is! We will have several Heralds on site to teach you the skills that will enable YOU to "OYEZ!" with the best of them, and learn the Litanies required moving the competitions along (and not "blowing out" your voice in the process)! Not to mention Court, Duty & Book!

· "Weaving": Baroness Anastasia (aka: "Auntie") will be there to help you with setting up a loom, and, if she is her typical self, you can expect her to possibly help with the basics of "Illumination". You always wanted to know what it takes to draw those lovely scrolls, well, here's a chance to see it first-hand! (See it, learn it, DO IT!)

Lots more stuff in the works! Make sure to see the Site Handout at "Gate" when you get there to see what else is planned. We may even have a "Spontaneous Bardic", so be ready!

As the afternoon draws near, we will fire up the grills for the BBQ. Golden Rivers will provide hot-dogs & hamburgers. Please bring a dish to share, and your own non-alcoholic beverages.

Location: Howe Park 2201 Howe Ave. The corner of Howe and Cottage. Site opens at 9:00am, and the event "ends" at 6:00pm. However, folks will undoubtedly stay later.

Site Fee: FREE!!! However, any donations will be gladly accepted.

Words from the Lord and Lady of Golden Rivers

Greetings from beautiful Golden Rivers,
With the hustle and travel of Tourney Season behind us we seek out some time to reflect on the past months and give thanks for our experiences, our friends and the small blessings that come to us every day.

The fire is lit, friends crowd the hall, singing and laughter is spilling forth. Like the food that overflows from the sideboard, now is the time to enjoy the bounty of our hard work.

Feast season is no less busy for many of us. Take the time to enjoy your families and give yourselves a moment to relax and take in all that you have done and created in this last year. Each and every one of us has done much. Revel in your accomplishments great and small.

Yours In Service,
Lord Sir Gunther and Lady Juliana
